Book presentation – women’s work and the path to self-determination

“Absolutely” – what do global supply chains have to do with women’s work? At their book presentation in the Raiffeisenbank hall, Ulrike Lunacek and Rosa Zechner covered everything from the fight for better working conditions in the Global South to the supply chain law currently being negotiated at EU level.

In the book “Global Fetale Future” they provide concrete examples from flower and clothing production in Colombia and Bangladesh. They show the pioneering achievements of women in these processes. In her book, the former Vice President of the European Parliament, Ulrike Lunacek, together with four other editors, brings together feminist voices from all over the world in the fight for justice.

Looking back on 40 years of the feminism movement

The occasion is the 40th anniversary of the feminist-development non-governmental organization and the magazine Frauen Solidarity in Vienna. 40 years of feminist debates in one book, 40 years of progress, 40 years of setbacks and learning from both, which opens up paths to a self-determined life. “Global Female Future” provides a clear look at feminist debates in politics, society, economics, reproduction and ecology, exemplified by and with authors from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe. Their experiences from previous conflicts point to the present, be it in the fight for fair working conditions, for corporate responsibility and supply chain laws – or for resources such as land or water, and against the climate catastrophe.

The book “Global Female Future” is available in well-stocked bookstores.
