All other households, for which the Ministry of the Environment finances up to half of the costs, also have the opportunity to purchase a new boiler with a subsidy. In total, the resort has set aside at least fourteen billion crowns for more environmentally friendly heating by next year, of which 5.5 billion is planned to be distributed among low-income households. Most of the money comes from European funds.
Why replace an old boiler? Is it possible to subsidize a gas boiler?
From 1 September 2022, the Czech Republic will be banned from operating solid boilers for solid fuels, ie coal and wood, which do not meet at least the 3rd emission class. After this date, the authorities will start controlling heating in households, for violating the rules, the owner faces a fine of up to fifty thousand crowns. Originally they had boiler subsidies to end last year, but the Ministry of the Environment has agreed with the European Commission to extend them.
Households will be able to apply for subsidies until September 1, 2022 at the most. Subsidies do not apply to older gas boilers, but only to gas heaters, for the replacement of which it is possible to obtain a subsidy from the New Green Savings program.
What is a boiler subsidy?
These are subsidies from the program for the replacement of non-ecological boilers or local heaters used as the main source of heat in households. In the last period from this year to next year, it is divided into two subsidy titles. One is used for low-income households and applications for it are submitted through individual regional authorities. The second, for others, runs within the program New green savings. In this case, applications for subsidies are submitted electronically via the website www.novazelenausporam.cz, which is in charge of the State Environmental Fund of the Czech Republic. He can also be consulted.

For subsidies for households with lower incomes, the average net income per household member in 2020 reached a maximum of 170,900 crowns. These include current taxable income, pensions and selected types of benefits. The incomes of children and students under the age of 26 are considered to be zero. The subsidy for eligible expenses is 95 percent and in the case of a gas condensing boiler it amounts to a maximum of 100 thousand crowns. For biomass boilers and heat pumps, this is a maximum of 130,000.
When New green savings for other households, subsidies amount to a maximum of 50 percent, but bonuses can be achieved for combination with other measures. The possibility of using new heat sources is also wider, in addition to the above, it is possible to achieve support in connection with the connection to the heat supply system or in the production of electricity and heat at the same time. This program can also draw a subsidy to compensate for local heating, such as fireplaces.
Conditions of the boiler subsidy
For subsidies for low-income households it will be possible to submit applications from the beginning of 2022. Support will be provided for installations carried out from 1 January 2021. Applicants may be owners or co-owners of a family or apartment house, apartment unit or permanently inhabited recreational facility.
The application on the appropriate form must be accompanied by a document on the inspection of the technical condition and operation of the original source, ie to prove that it meets the exchange parameters, documents proving ownership of the property and photo documentation of the existing boiler.
After replacing the old boiler, the applicant must provide photo documentation of the newly installed equipment, proof of installation and commissioning, in the case of boilers, chimney inspection report, installation report prepared by an authorized person, confirmation of ecological disposal of the old boiler and accounting documents.

As for subsidies through New green savings, applicants can again only be owners or co – owners of a family or apartment house, apartment unit or permanently inhabited recreational facility. As with the previous program, support applies to installations performed from 1 January 2021. It will be possible to submit online applications from this autumn. The application documents are the same as those for low-income households, as is the documentation after the installation of the new source.
What is the New Green Savings Program?
The new green savings is a subsidy program designed to energy savings family and apartment houses. The first period started in 2014, since then funds in the order of billions of crowns have been distributed to tens of thousands of households. The core of the program is the reduction of energy intensity of residential houses, ie the renovation and construction of low-energy family and apartment houses. However, more and more emphasis is placed on the use of renewable energy sources. As part of boiler subsidies, the state has supported the exchange of 120,000 energy sources for 11.8 billion crowns since 2015.
