Civilian task force officers observed a motor scooter occupied by two males on Frankfurter Strasse in Troisdorf around 6 p.m. Thursday (26 January). The driver pulled into a grocery store parking lot, where officers checked the two people.
They discovered that the insurance license plate mounted on the scooter had been stolen from another scooter in the summer of last year. According to his own statements, the 28-year-old driver from Troisdorf did not know where the license plate came from. He also admitted that the scooter was not registered. The license plate was secured by the officials and further travel was prohibited.
The 28-year-old is now facing a preliminary investigation on suspicion of forgery and violation of the compulsory insurance law. (Re.)
