The film classic “Gone with the Wind” has surprisingly been received after a cancellation by the US streaming provider HBO max. The southern drama has now become a bestseller in the Amazon sales charts, reports “Variety” and other US media on Wednesday (local time). A day earlier, HBO max had initially removed the film from the program. Racist tendencies were given as the reason.
The DVD of the film has also climbed into the bestseller rankings at amazon for the German-speaking region and currently holds fourth place.
The novel by Margaret Mitchell, however, has not yet made it into the top ranks at the moment. It is available under the title “Gone with the Wind” in a new translation, which contains the entire text for the first time, but smoothes the places that could be considered racist in strong deviations from the original.
