At around 10 p.m. on December 12, Memphis police responded to a suspicious call that someone had found a body stuffed in a suitcase, according to WHBQ.

Officers said when they opened the suitcase, the victim was discovered to have died from a blunt trauma to the head.

Tennessee Police identified the victim as Jeffries on December 20.

Police say a witness told investigators he saw Summers dragging this suitcase down an alley at around 10 a.m. that day.

The witness said Summers tried to throw the suitcase in the dumpster, but it was too heavy.

When Summers saw he was being watched, he dropped the suitcase and fled the site.

Video footage from the nearby apartment complex also showed Summers attempting to throw the suitcase in the dumpster.

Cameras spotted him again outside a bank.

Investigators said the suitcase left a trail of blood that led police from dumpsters to the Broadmoor apartment complex in South Cleveland.

This is where Summers and Jeffries have lived together for the past two years.

Police searched the apartment where the trail of blood ended and found signs of a struggle and blood throughout the living space.

It included shattered glass, a shattered mirror, and blood in the bedroom.

Police said there were several bloodstained clothes in a washing machine.

Summers has been charged with second degree murder, tampering with evidence and abuse of a dead body.
