Black fungus infection is deadly among people with viral diseases corona or Covid-19 of India to increase.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government ordered all states to start implementing strict monitoring of the spike in the transmission of black fungus, aka Mucormycosis.

Gujarat and Telangana are the two most recent states to detect black fungus transmission in their territory.

So far, the state of Maharashtra has detected more than 2,000 cases of black fungus. Meanwhile, Gujarat recorded 1,200 black fungus sufferers to date.

Meanwhile, the capital New Delhi and several other big cities have provided special wards to treat thousands of Covid-19 patients who have contracted black fungus infection.

So far, there have been more than 200 patients infected with black fungus in New Delhi hospitals with a dozen other sufferers still waiting to be treated.

Gujarat officials also said Ahmedabad Hospital, one of the largest in the area, was treating 371 cases of black fungus. Around 400 similar cases are also being handled by the Rajkot City government hospital.

Black fungus infection is no stranger to India which usually handles at least 20 cases of transmission every year.

However, the disease is a new threat to a country that is facing the second wave of Covid-19 and more deadly.

Black fungus is rumored to have killed more than 50 percent of sufferers in recent days. Even so, until now the Indian authorities have not reported the exact number of patients with black fungus and their victims.

According to some medical experts, black fungus infection is caused by the high use of steroids in the treatment of Covid-19 patients.

Black fungus is caused by an organism called mucorymycetes. These organisms can enter the body through respiration and cuts in the skin.

Naturally, these organisms live in soil and decaying organic matter. However, when it enters the human body, this fungus can infect the air sacs behind the forehead, nose, cheekbones, and between the eyes and teeth.

In some cases, black fungus sufferers have to have their eyes and upper jaw removed to save lives.

“The indiscriminate use of steroids to treat Covid-19 patients should be avoided,” said Maharashtra’s head of health affairs, Rajesh Tope, as quoted. AFP.
