The Binance cryptocurrency exchange has completed a large-scale update of the trading engine, increasing the processing speed of operations by 10 times, said Changpeng Zhao, CEO of the company.

According to him, the update has become the largest in the history of Binance. It took two years to develop it. Zhao noted that thereby the exchange is preparing the “next wave” of cryptocurrency market growth.
“This is the largest update to date. We switched the application matching engine to a new programming language (and rewrote all the code from scratch, as needed), ”the Binance chapter wrote.
Zhao added that after the upgrade, the exchange will be able to process trading volumes that exceed current indicators by about 100 times. He specified that real figures will become known only when real volumes come close to such indicators.
Probably 10x more, so in theory can handle 100x volume. But when real volumes hit, there will be some other peripheral systems that may temporarily bottleneck, but will be fixed quickly.

The platform update began on Sunday at 05:00 Moscow time and took three hours. By 8:30, Binance had fully resumed trading. The pause in the work did not affect the futures and options presented on the exchange.
Recall that last week Binance added the ability to purchase Bitcoin and Tether for the Ukrainian hryvnia.
