Bilbao is the municipality most satisfied with its municipal public services, for the third consecutive year, according to the new edition of the Barometer of the Urban Services Observatory (OSUR), which has analyzed 30 municipalities in the State. Specifically, 80% of the people of Bilbao are satisfied, while only 9% are dissatisfied.

The results of this third edition of the Barometer are the result of a survey conducted by Time Consultant to 5,500 people, which seeks to reflect the opinion of citizens about their public services in the 30 most populated municipalities of the country: Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Valencia, Seville , Zaragoza, Malaga, Murcia, Palma de Mallorca, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Bilbao, Alicante, Cordoba, Valladolid, Vigo, Gijón, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Vitoria, A Coruña, Granada, Elche, Oviedo, Terrassa, Badalona, Cartagena, Jerez de la Frontera, Sabadell, Móstoles, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Pamplona and Alcalá de Henares.

Specifically, 80% of the people of Bilbao are satisfied with the set of municipal public services, while only 9% are dissatisfied.

These figures keep Bilbao in first place in the comparison of cities, both for the highest satisfaction figure and the lowest dissatisfaction figure. All services receive a very good evaluation, ranking among the first of all the municipalities analyzed.

Public transport services, garbage and waste collection, street cleaning and conservation of public spaces and sports facilities receive the best score of the 30 municipalities analyzed, according to the Osur barometer (https://youtu.be/k02NYOAkcwA).

For its part, the water supply receives the second best mark in the comparison. These results place Bilbao as the city that scores the best for its municipal services. They are followed, at a certain distance, by Vitoria (71% satisfaction) and Vigo (70%).

The best valued service is the water supply with 89% satisfaction, 10% more than last year and 14% above the national average. This result is, after Madrid, the second best of all the municipalities analyzed. Water quality is the highest rated aspect, with 92% satisfaction, followed by operational management (pressure, service continuity, meter operation), with 80% evaluation.

The second best valued service is garbage collection, with 83% satisfaction and 3 unsatisfied, both results represent the best scores of the 30 most populated municipalities in Spain. In satisfaction with this service, Bilbao is 25 points above the national average. The best valued aspect is the frequency of the garbage collection service, with 81% satisfaction, and, secondly, the provision and equipment for the provision of the service (trucks, bins, equipment, containers), with 77% of favorable opinions.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION AND CLEANING

In order of evaluation, public transport follows with 79% acceptance and the best score of the analyzed sample. The national average, in this case, stands at 57%. The study found that the most appreciated is the frequency of the subway, light rail and tram schedules, with 85%, followed by the state of cleanliness and conservation of the vehicles, with 84% acceptance.

In addition, 75% of the people of Bilbao are satisfied with street cleaning, while only 7% state they are dissatisfied, both the best scores of the 30 municipalities analyzed. In this case, Bilbao’s score is 38 points above the national average (37% satisfaction).

Specifically, the frequency with which they carry out road cleaning work is the best valued aspect, with 77%, an aspect that, according to the study, should surely influence Bilbao having one of the highest percentages of satisfaction in the city. cleaning of pet excrement, with 29%.

Lastly, the care of parks and gardens satisfies 73% of the inhabitants of Bilbao and displeases 7%, and also in this case they are the best results of all the cities analyzed. The average satisfaction with this service is 44%, which is why Bilbao is 29% above the global average.

The best considered point is the care provided to green areas, with an acceptance rate of 70%. In second place, the quality of the facilities in parks and public spaces, with 68% favorable opinions.

The general director of OSUR, Ramiro Aurín, has underlined that Bilbao becomes “the city of reference”, since it revalidates, for the third consecutive year, the title of municipality with greater satisfaction with its municipal public services. With its 80% satisfaction rate, it is 23 points above the national average. On the other hand, the national average for dissatisfied people stands at 21%, while in Bilbao it drops to only 9%.

Likewise, he has highlighted the “extraordinary marks” that Bilbaoans give to each of the services analyzed in depth. “An example of success in municipal management that is manifested in the pride of its inhabitants. Congratulations,” he highlighted.
