Much is different this year, and that also applies to the nativity play of the island church. For the first time it celebrated its premiere on the fourth Advent, for the first time it did not take place under the Christmas tree, for the first time the crib in the chancel was therefore still empty, for the first time it was not played live but shown as a film and for the first time the church was not completely occupied .
This time the nativity play put the Christmas story according to Luke from the Bible directly into the picture, played by Langeoogern children in different places on the island and for the first time – and this is an advantage – children who are on holiday at Easter, in summer or in autumn can also come to Langeoog, see the nativity scene. Because on Christmas Eve it will be available on YouTube from 3 p.m. and then on the Langeoog News YouTube channel.
You can promise a great game by the Langeoog children Amke, Bence, Berenike, Edda, Fenna, Hanna, Henrika, Inka, Jule, Lena, Levin, Linus, Lisbeth, Lotta, Paul, Renko, Rieke and Sonka around the nativity play team Saskia Kugelberg, Corinna Merkel and Christian Neumann. Küster Dominque Seifert took over the camera and editing. Only 30 minutes later, the solemn service on Christmas Eve begins on the Rathausplatz at 3:30 p.m.
In the church service on the fourth Advent there was, of course, not only the nativity play, but also Christmas music, and Cantor Noemi Rohloff sat on the organ bench. Insel pastor Christian Neumann performed, among other things, “The fairy tale of happiness” by Erich Kästner.
