Since January 4, the refiners of Grandpuits have been leading an exemplary strike against the 700 job cuts of Total as part of a vast operation of greenwashing. However, despite the importance of this fight and the support it has garnered, media silence remains almost total on the strike.
In this sense, while on Saturday the procession of refiners made a strong impression in the demonstration against the layoffs, the AFP dispatch published at the end of the day of mobilization does not even mention the presence of the refiners. Likewise, while the media have provided regular coverage of conflicts like Bridgestone’s, reporting of the refiners’ strike has remained extremely rare.

In this context, and in an attempt to break this silence, the refiners are calling on Monday to massively twitter with the hashtag #SoutienRaffineursTotalGrandpuits to try to break the media omerta on their fight. “We must break the media sluggishness surrounding this fight. There is a fight in Grandpuits and no one is talking about it.“explains Adrien Cornet in a video posted on social networks. Already personalities have announced that they will respond to the call in the image of Olivier Besancenot who relayed the call on Twitter.
