BG Göttingen: Relapse into old habits

Anyone who believed the home game against relegation candidate Jobstairs Giessen 46ers is using the current form of the Bundesliga club BG Göttingen to demonstrate their strength again with an improved intensity on the defensive, was mistaken on Wednesday evening in the Sparkassen-Arena – and at the latest when 79:98 (47:47) – Final standings brought back to the ground: The violets fell into old habits that had long been believed to have been overcome, literally broke apart in the third quarter and finally hung their heads collectively.

It remains to be seen whether the BG could be demonstrated by the opponent, who had arrived with fresh self-confidence after the coup against FC Bayern, as the BG self-critically stated in a press release. The fact is, however, that next to nothing went in the decisive third quarter – the Giesseners, led by the routine monster John Bryant, mercilessly exploited the opponent’s mentality fall and took a decisive lead after a game that had been balanced to date.

Moors is “very, very disappointed” with his team

BG head coach Roel Moors was served accordingly: “Of course I’m very, very disappointed,” he said. “I didn’t see the team from the past few weeks today. I saw a team that wasn’t in the game from the start, played with very little energy, but stayed in the game anyway. ”

The Veilchen had less regeneration than the 46ers after the difficult game against Ludwigsburg, and all in all, the Hessians also seemed more grippy, which was especially noticeable under the baskets. With teams like the BG, however, a lot depends on the right attitude, and on Wednesday the BG players were as far away from the mentality monster as the earth is from the sun. “We make one or two mistakes, and mentally nothing happens, as it happened to us a month or two ago,” complained Moors. “In the first place it was a very poor performance mentally.”

The BG had already suffered a weak phase in the first round and fell behind with 17:28 shortly before the end of the quarter. The fact that the break was only four points behind at 24:48 was only thanks to the nonchalance of the 46ers and quick points from Nelson, Dawkins and Booker.

The second quarter with a great Aubrey Dawkins was the best ten minutes of the game of the BG on Wednesday evening, the third round was at the latest after a booker bad pass and a crashing dunk from Alen Pjanic to 74:59 for the guests one to forget and was disastrous a BBL cellar child lost at 12:29.

Violets do not have a leader in pressure situations

Once again it was shown that the violets do not have a leader who takes responsibility in pressure situations. Post-signing Deishuan Booker looked pretty good lately, this time he drew Moors ’anger:“ I can’t accept Booker’s body language. You can lose the ball, but you can run backwards I guess. That was not good.”

The BG coach recently had the feeling that “we are finally on the right track”. The analysis after the Gießen game looked completely different: “We weren’t ready to play, we played without intensity.” The sporty roller coaster ride of the violets, that much has been certain since Wednesday, will continue this season, and that fits Team finally arrived in the sporty no man’s land between playoff places and relegation zone. Roel Moors, that is also certain, will have a lot of work to do before the home game on Sunday at 3 p.m. against s.Oliver Würzburg – the next opponent also needs every victory in the relegation battle.
