KONTAN.CO.ID – Jakarta. The corona virus infects millions of people indiscriminately. Everyone should be vigilant and exercise distance, wash hands and wear a mask. However, people with certain blood groups must increase their awareness because they are more susceptible to contracting the corona virus.
Several studies have shown a link between an increase in corona cases and blood type. A recent study said that people with blood type O tend to have a lower risk of contracting the SARS-Cov-2 virus compared to other blood groups.
The researchers also noted that people with blood type O were less likely to develop serious illness if they were already infected. These findings are similar to research published in June, in which researchers concluded that people with blood type A had a 45 percent higher risk of contracting Covid-19.
Well, researchers have even studied 1,900 people in Spain and Italy who are seriously ill with Covid-19, and compared the results with 2,000 people who are not sick.
Earlier in March, a study in China showed that people with blood type A were more susceptible to corona. Meanwhile, people with blood type O actually get more protection against the virus.

The report has some experts worried that people with blood type A will panic, on the other hand it could also make people with blood type O become complacent about health protocols. “These results cannot be used to reduce the serious precautions that everyone should take, regardless of their blood type,” said hematologist and professor at Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont. March study results The March study came out of Wuhan, China, where the first cases of Covid-19 were found. In the study, the scientists looked at the blood groups of 2,173 people who had been diagnosed with Covid-19 and compared them to the blood groups of the general population in the region. They found that in the normal population, type A was 31 percent, type B 24 percent, type AB 9 percent, and type O 34 percent.
In those infected with Covid-19, blood type A was 38 percent, type B was 26 percent, type AB was 10 percent, and type O was 25 percent. In conclusion, blood type A in normal people is more prone to corona and those who have been exposed to the virus can have quite serious diseases.
