Besides Rizieq Going Home, Prabowo Also Asked Supporters to be Released

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Chairman of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo Subianto asked the government to release a number of supporting figures who were detained for being caught in a legal case as a condition for reconciliation after the 2019 Presidential Election, apart from proposing the repatriation of the FPI High Priest Rizieq Shihab.

This was conveyed by Gerindra Party Secretary General Ahmad Muzani through the Gerindra Faction Instagram account, Friday (13/11).

“Not only Rizieq Shihab’s repatriation, Prabowo also asked the government to release a number of supporting figures who were arrested for being caught in legal cases,” said the statement.

During the 2019 Presidential Election, a number of Prabowo supporters were identified as suspects in a number of different cases. They included former Kopassus Special Forces Major General (ret) Soenarko, former Chief of Staff of Kivlan Zen Kostrad, former Kapolda Sofyan Jacob.

Then Bachtiar Nasir was appointed as a money launderer and Eggi Sudjana who was charged with treason.

The legal cases of these figures continue to this day, although they are not heard from again. Kivlan Zen has been brought to court. The retired two-star general was charged with possession of illegal firearms (senpi) and live ammunition.

Meanwhile, the Soenarko case has been transferred by the National Police to the AGO. Meanwhile, the case involving Sofyan Jacob, Bachtiar Nasir, and Eggi Sudjana is not yet clear. They have also suspended their detention.

Previously, Muzani said Prabowo had a role in Rizieq’s return to Indonesia. He stated that Rizieq’s return, who has been in Saudi Arabia since 2017, is one of the conditions for post-2019 presidential reconciliation.

“Yes, the whole (Rizieq Shihab’s repatriation), not only that. But the whole is not only that. Yesterday, hundreds of people were detained. It was being processed. Yes, all kinds of things,” said Muzani.

Muzani said the meeting between Prabowo and Jokowi, which is the first step for reconciliation, must also be seen as a process of reconciliation or peace. The process of reconciliation, said Muzani, could not happen if there was still a grudge in the community.

He also reminded that the reconciliation process should not be merely a discourse and a political trade.

“Reconciliation will not be possible if the atmosphere and thoughts also occur later. The atmosphere must be calmed down, must be relaxed, so that the reconciliation becomes something strong,” said Muzani.

Previously, Rizieq said that his party was ready to reconcile with the government. Rizieq also urged the opening of the door for dialogue to discuss the reconciliation plan.

“How can reconciliation be held if the door to dialogue is not opened. Open the door to dialogue first, then reconciliation can be. There is no reconciliation without dialogue, dialogue is important,” Rizieq said as quoted from a video on the YouTube channel FrontTV, Wednesday (11/11).

Rizieq admitted that he had offered a dialogue with the government when holding a tabligh akbar before the 2017 DKI Jakarta Pilkada. According to him, at that time his party was ready to hold a dialogue at any time if the government was willing to sit down with the habaib and ulama.

The FPI frontman has lived in Saudi Arabia for more than three years. Rizieq was finally able to return to Indonesia after a long process on 10 November. While in Arabia, Rizieq continued to rally the masses in the 2019 presidential election.

He participated in designing the Ijtimak Ulama which provided support to the pair number 02 Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno. Meanwhile, Prabowo also promised to take Rizieq home if he was elected president. However, Prabowo failed to become president and is now the minister of defense.
