Alain Berset calls for respect for protective measures in the fight against Covid-19. He says he is cautiously confident for the time being but believes that the situation may be more difficult again later in the year, he said on German radio SRF on Saturday.

“There is no miracle and only one way,” he added, referring to the possibilities for testing: even with mild symptoms, people should be tested. Paying attention and quarantining oneself in the event of a positive test is a question of individual responsibility and responsibility towards society, he believes.
There are certainly moments that allow you to breathe and live in a more relaxed way. But that does not mean that the authorities’ recommendations should no longer be followed.
The situation will undoubtedly be more tense again later this year: “We will then see if we can bear this again, as a society”, continued Alain Berset. The authorities are well prepared, but it requires the cooperation of the entire population and all businesses in the country.
“We really need to learn to live with the virus,” said the Minister of Health: distance, respect hygiene measures, wear a mask in case of lack of physical distance and the concepts of protection contribute.
Holidays in Switzerland
“In this uncertain situation, it is certainly not a bad idea to spend the summer holidays in Switzerland,” said the Federal Councilor. It is best to give up any non-urgent trip abroad.
For the rest, Alain Berset is cautiously optimistic. The virus will still be present in September. And we can say with certainty that there will be no vaccine yet. The problem will therefore persist.
“But we can trust the cantons, which will do their job well. They are well prepared for it ”. The most important thing is that people remain cautious, follow recommendations and all public places adopt a concept of protection and adapt it if necessary.
