A new Sports Medicine Center is born in Berbenno. And this is good news for the sportsmen of the Sondriese area who, after the closure of the sports medicine clinic located in Sondrio, had found themselves forced to go to Sondalo or Morbegno or, again, to private facilities. The Sports Medicine Center managed by Asst Valtellina with the Ats Montagna will open from Wednesday 16 September: the clinic is located in the Berbenno district headquarters, on the ground floor of the building that houses the general practitioners’ offices, in via Pradelli 215. It will be open on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, in the morning from 9 to 12.30 and from 13.30 to 17. Doctor Francesco Mele, specialist in sports medicine, will carry out the visits to ascertain the fitness for competitive and amateur sports. Berbenno is certainly not far away, but the fact remains that it seems strange how such an important service is not carried out by the Hospital of Sondrio in the capital. “We have identified in the Berbenno headquarters the ideal place to host this important service – explains the dg Tommaso Saporito (photo) -: in just a few weeks we have adapted and furnished the spaces. With the three opening days, in the morning and in the afternoon, we will try to meet the needs of users and to provide a timely response to all requests “. “This is the result of the agreement with Asst Valtellina and Alto Lario which took charge of the provision of the service following the retirement of Dr. Paola Selvetti, whom I thank for the commitment and dedication lavished in all these years”, adds the dg of the Ats Lorella Cecconami.
