Benjamin Griveaux complained on Saturday for “invasion of privacy“and an investigation was opened after broadcasting sex videos having led to his withdrawal from the race for mayor of Paris, we learned from the Paris prosecutor’s office.
The complaint was filed at the premises of the regional directorate of the judicial police and the investigations were entrusted to the Brigade for the Suppression of Delinquency in the Person (BRDP), said this source.
On LCI, Mr. Griveaux’s lawyer, Richard Malka, clarified that the complaint had been filed against X.
“This complaint will cover the whole range of offenses which have been carried out by the author of the initial broadcast and by those who resumed these broadcasts“, added the lawyer.
Russian protest artist Piotr Pavlenski, which burnt down the facade of a branch of the Banque de France in 2017, said Friday that it was behind the posting of the videos complained of, ensuring it wanted to denounce the “hypocrisy“of the ex-candidate LREM.
Mr. Griveaux “used his family by presenting himself as an icon for all the fathers and husbands of Paris. He propagated traditional family values“, he said.
Me Malka estimated on LCI that this justification was “grotesque“.”I have rarely seen a more cynical personality. We are in an absolute sham, with pseudo artists who consider that they are in a dictatorship and give moral lessons“, he added.
The lawyer also expressed doubts that Mr. Pavlenski was solely responsible for the dissemination of the videos. “Clearly, I do not at all believe that he acted alone“, he added, without going any further and referring to the investigation opened by the prosecutor’s office on Saturday.
Piotr Pavlenski was arrested and taken into police custody on Saturday in another investigation into violence committed on the evening of December 31. He is implicated for having participated that night in a brawl in a Parisian apartment.
