The artist was 66 years old. One of his representatives revealed that he had a lung problem with which he had been battling for a long time.

This Saturday American actor Ron Cephas Jones has died at the age of 66remembered for his work on the series This is us, for which he won two Emmy Awards.

“Beloved, award-winning actor Ron Cephas Jones has passed away at the age of 66 due to a longstanding lung condition,” one of his reps confirmed to People.

In a statement, they said: “Throughout his career, anyone lucky enough to know him felt his warmth, beauty, generosity, kindness and heart.”

The text adds that “he began his career at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe and his love of the stage carried through his entire career, including his recent Tony-nominated and Drama Desk Award-winning performance in ‘Clyde’s’ in Broadway”.

“Ron’s inner beauty and soul were evident to a wide audience in his multiple Emmy Award-winning performance in ‘This is Us.’ He is survived by his daughter Jasmine Cephas Jones,” he concludes.

In the critically acclaimed and award-winning This Is Us, Jones played William Hill, the biological father of Randall Pearson’s (Sterling K. Brown) character. For that role, he was nominated four times for an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series, garnering two of those awards (2018 and 2020).

Jones’ daughter, Jasmine, also won an Emmy in 2020 for Outstanding Performance in a Short-Form Comedy or Drama Series. It was the first time in history that father and daughter won Emmy Awards in the same year.

Jones also worked on the series “Truth Be Told,” “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” “Looking for Alaska,” “Luke Cage,” “The Get Down” and “Mr. Robot.”

He also acted in the movies “Dolemite Is My Name”, “Dog Days”, “Across the Universe”, “He Got Game”, “Sweet and Lowdown”, “The Holiday Calendar” and “Half Nelson”

In 2021, Jones revealed in an interview with The New York Times who had battled chronic obstructive pulmonary disease that required a double lung transplant at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in 2020, where he was a patient for nearly two months.

Speaking to Today in June 2022, he said that his Tony-nominated performance in Clyde’s on Broadway motivated him to make a quick recovery.

“I don’t want to say a miracle, but I was very lucky. I had great doctors. It was a very difficult and arduous recovery. I will be recovering for the rest of my life,” Jones said. And he concluded: “You don’t get new lungs and start racing on the track. It is a procedure that you have to constantly work on your body.”
