Belgium Becomes First Country to Mandatory Quarantine of Monkeypox Patients

Belgium Be the first country to require quarantine for patients monkey pox.

The quarantine obligations were established by the local health authorities together with the Belgian Risk Assessment Group (RAG).

The policy regarding mandatory quarantine was established after the country reported four cases of monkeypox.

On Saturday (21/5), Belgian microbiologist Emmanuel Andre said that a fourth case of monkeypox had been confirmed in the country.

“Patient is currently being treated in Wallonia and is related to the Antwerp incident where two other people were infected,” Andre said in a tweet.

Belgium itself detected the first case of monkeypox on Friday (20/5). The second to fourth cases were detected a day later on Saturday (21/5).

Three cases of monkeypox in Belgium are believed to have spread at the Darklands homosexual festival in Antwerp.

The four cases are the reason Belgian health authorities set quarantine rules for monkeypox patients.

Monkeypox itself is a rare Monkeypox virus infection disease. This disease causes flu-like symptoms and swollen lymph nodes.

In addition, monkeypox symptoms can also develop in rashes and sores on blistered spots on the surface of the skin.

To date, the World Health Organization (WHO) says that more than 100 cases of monkeypox have been detected in 12 countries.

According to the WHO, anyone who interacts closely or has direct contact with patients is at risk of contracting monkeypox.
