Belgian Tim Merlier won the 6th stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico cycling race and narrowly defeated the third triumph of the German spurt Pascal Ackermann in the final mass spurt. He controlled the mass race in Italy in the first two days, this time he had to bow in front of his opponent from the Alpecin-Fenix team.

After 171 kilometers on the route from Castelfidara to Senigallie, the British Simon Yates defended the interim lead. The Vuelta champion from 2018 still has a 16-second lead over the Pole Rafal Majka, another 23 seconds back is the former winner of the Tour de France Geraint Thomas.
