Well the European Commission (EC) has received a letter in Russian with threats that attacks are imminent in the EU because of the European policy on Ukraine, media in Belgium reported, BTA reported.

According to the media quote, the letter to the EC stated,

that because of the “aggressive European policy” “massive terrorist attacks” are coming in the EU.

Threats have been made against the LGBT+ community “and other minorities”, as well as EU heads of state and government. The letter was received on March 3, and today the commission alerted the Belgian police.

Earlier today, the media in Belgium issued a warning about a planned attack on the subway in Brussels.

It is noted that the security services have called a meeting and are taking the warning very seriously.

Officers with sniffer dogs were sent that night to investigate,

which was completed without any traces of explosives being found. The police added that they received that night a letter threatening a terrorist attack.

Media specify that the letter is was in Russian and it states that the assassination will be undertaken because of European policy on Ukraine. It is added that since February, two more threats of assassinations have been made in Russian.

It is noted that today the US Consulate in Brussels has warned to exercise caution and avoid using public transport if possible.

Public transport in Brussels is running very limited today due to a protest related to the celebration of International Women’s Day. Metro lines are particularly affected, the city transport company notes.

On March 22, 2016, terrorists linked to the Islamic State group carried out two attacks in the Brussels metro and airport,

resulted in 32 casualties and 340 injured. The case against the surviving perpetrators and their associates began recently and continues in the first instance.
