Belgian man damages Kannenfeld police station entrance, leading to temporary closure

Due to damage to property in the entrance area of the customer area of the Kannenfeld police station, it has to be temporarily closed. Reports and other concerns that require personal contact with the Basel-City Cantonal Police are still possible at all other locations.

On Thursday, March 28, 2024, around 3:30 p.m., a 35-year-old Belgian man damaged the entrance area of the Kannenfeld police station using a traffic sign as a striking tool. The Basel-Stadt cantonal police were able to stop the man on site and arrest him on behalf of the Basel-Stadt public prosecutor’s office.

Due to the damage, the door to the customer area is no longer functional. The customer zone will therefore remain temporarily closed. The Clara, Riehen, Autobahnpolizei, Gundeldingen, Bettingen and SBB train stations remain open to the public during regular opening hours.
