Belarusian judokas left without medals at the World Championships in Doha | Sports | free time

In Qatar, the World Judo Championship, in which Belarusian athletes took part under a neutral flag, is nearing its end. At the planetary forum in Qatar, the Belarusian team was represented by two athletes: Daria Kontsevaya in the women’s 78 kg category and Yegor Voropaev in the men’s 90 kg category.

In the first round of the women’s tournament, Kontsevaya defeated an athlete from Kosovo, Loriana Kuku (11:0), and in the second round, our judoka defeated Montenegrin Jovana Pekovic (1:0). Daria dropped out of the fight for medals at the 1/8 final stage, losing to the Frenchwoman Audrey Chemeo (0:10). Egor Voropaev in the opening match at the World Championship was stronger than the Argentinean Mariano Coto Bercier (1:0), but in the next round the Belarusian lost to Michael Zhganok from Turkey (0:1) and ended his performances.

The World Judo Championship in Doha will end on May 14. In total, the main start of the season for judoists brought together more than 650 athletes from 99 countries.
