Before leaving the Corona Task Force, Akmal Taher was ‘reprimanded’ by Luhut

Jakarta

Head of Health Management Task Force for Handling COVID-19 Prof Akmal Taher resign from his position. Before declaring his resignation, apparently Akmal attended a meeting with the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

Spokesperson for the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Jodi Mahardi, said that Luhut, as Deputy Chair of the Policy Committee for the Control of COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery, held a joint meeting with the COVID-19 Task Force and the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes). At the meeting, Akmal was present to represent the Head of the COVID-19 Task Force Doni Monardo.

“Indeed, at the meeting, Pak Luhut reminded the Task Force, which was represented by Prof. Akmal and the Ministry of Health which was represented by a Special Staff,” said Jodi when contacted, Sunday (27/9/2020).

Jodi did not explain exactly what Akmal had said at the meeting, so Luhut reminded him. According to Jodi, Luhut reminded Akmal that every policy to be taken had to be consulted first.

“So that before launching the Clinical Treatment Guidelines for COVID-19, we must first consult with various professional medical associations,” he said.

Even so, Jodi dismissed the notion that Luhut and Akmal Taher were at odds. “I don’t think there is a difference in understanding,” he said.

detikcom has contacted Akmal Taher to confirm this but has not been answered.

Previously it was reported, Akmal Taher, Head of the COVID-19 Task Force Health Management, said he would resign from his position. Akmal’s resignation was conveyed verbally to the Head of the COVID-19 Task Force Doni Monardo.

“(Resignation verbally) last night,” said Doni to reporters, Friday (25/9).

In the context of his resignation, Akmal Taher talked about its importance tracing (tracking) and testing (testing) COVID-19. He said he would talk about that and the important role of health centers related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“So it’s been resigning for the time being, but I will keep it, for any activity that, for me, tracing, testing, is absolutely added,” said Akmal, in a virtual discussion, Saturday (26/9).

“And I really believe it must be done through the puskesmas, so I will go back and forth by the way that’s all, in any place where there are activities I get my chance to do that job, because I think that’s what we haven’t done yet, “he added.
