A pneu crane weighing 60 tonnes tipped off a barge near Beckenried in mid-January and sank in Lake Lucerne was lifted out of the water on Monday morning. So far, the salvage has been without major problems.

Only a chain has slipped a bit, a police officer told a reporter from the Keystone-SDA news agency on site. The crane is still hanging on chains over the bank.

Crane operators and workers got away with terror
The accident happened on January 15 at 9.35 a.m. in the Rüttenen area on the company premises of a gravel company. The pneumatic crane was on a Nauen and was supposed to lift a transformer station from the shore to the ship. The crane and the transformer station tipped into Lake Lucerne and sank.

No one was injured in the incident: the crane operator was able to get out of the cabin onto the barge in time, and three other workers who helped to load the transformer station were able to jump to the lake and swim to the shore.
Since then, the pneumatic crane has been 30 meters deep in the lake. To prevent it from slipping, it was secured with steel cables. (SDA / rad)
