Party leader Thierry Baudet of the Forum for Democracy sees a cooperation partner in the CDA. He responds with that This is the Day to statements made by candidate party leader Pieter Omtzigt about cooperation between CDA and Forum: “I like working with Omtzigt in the House of Representatives, but we can also work well with another figure at the top of the CDA”.
This week, the question about collaboration with the Forum for Democracy was frequently asked within the CDA. Candidate Omtzigt previously stated that Baudet excludes himself after statements he made No style. The party leader of the Forum for Democracy said there that the CDA and other parties are looking for the destruction of the Netherlands.
However, according to Baudet, this does not stand in the way of cooperation: “Sometimes I say things very sharply. In politics you inevitably have to do business with each other, all those other parties know that too, so it is a non-discussion.”
Book
Baudet discussed his new book Common sense politics. In the book he writes about ‘climate obsession as collective madness’. This brings Baudet back to his 2017 election program which states: ‘We support the energy transition to have cleaner air and become independent from the Middle East’.
The Forum leader says he has not been turned on this theme: “I still agree with many of these texts, tackling environmental problems is good. There was great trepidation about the specific point of energy transition to make it political. We thought that we couldn’t win the elections by focusing on that, so we left it a little vague. “
Iconoclasm
According to Baudet, we have to let our past be the past and it is barbaric to burn books or bring down statues: “All these things are just part of the growth rings of our society.” Earlier this week, Baudet placed flowers near the statue of Jan Pieterszoon Coen in Hoorn: “It is a symbol of our past somewhere, it is also not the case that you say with flowers: you are a saint.”
