‘Things really have to be different now’
Arnold Linden (65) lives in Vilt, Limburg, is retired and was previously a police officer for 36 years.
‘I don’t know whether Wilders is a good prime minister, I have doubts about that, he is too direct in some areas, but I do think he should govern. I have already voted for Ja21, and before that often VVD. But now very consciously on the PVV, because I think: it should be very different. If the VVD had been the largest again, or if the PVDA and GroenLinks came into government, we would continue in the same way, and then our country would be bursting at the seams, far too many people would come here, and our children who have lived here all their lives cannot find a home.
The VVD has not achieved anything. They have simply ensured that the rich have become even richer, but there are still people here, children, below the poverty line, living crazy. And on the other hand, there are people who were not born here, who have not yet contributed anything to our society, and who get enough money to get by. Scandalous.”
‘Don’t push religion at school’
“And don’t get me wrong: people who really need help, who have to flee a war, we have to help them, I really want that too, but now we are flooded with people who do not always deserve our help, I think. Another thing : apology for our history of slavery. This has happened in the past, we no longer have to apologize for that. It’s good that Wilders wants to reverse that. And abolish Islamic schools, yes, that sounds harsh, and I am in favor of freedom of religion , but to push that through education… I think so too.
The PVV wants better healthcare, the party stands for better housing: themes that I find very important. And of course, I am not necessarily in favor of abolishing climate subsidies or cultural subsidies, but first we have to get healthcare and our housing market on track, then we will have money and energy for other things.”
