Apple to Revamp iPad Pro Lineup with OLED Displays and Revamped Magic Keyboard

Apple is reportedly planning to revamp the iPad Pro lineup next year with OLED displays and a revamped Magic Keyboard.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported Sunday that the redesign — the first major change to the tablet lineup in half a decade — is aimed at rekindling consumer interest and eliminating confusion in the lineup. Gorman points out that the iPad generates the least revenue among Apple’s main products.

Gorman writes that the lineup will feature OLED screens for the first time, rather than the Mini-LED display technology also used in Apple’s MacBook Pros. He wrote that the models are expected to have 11- and 13-inch screens, which are slightly larger than the current 12.9-inch screens.

The new lineup is also expected to be powered by Apple’s M3 chip, Gorman writes. Apple launched its M chips to power the company’s range of MacBooks, Macs and iPads in 2020 after years of using Intel processors.

The tablets will also feature an updated Magic Keyboard that will help the iPad function like a laptop, as well as the addition of a larger trackpad, which addresses a complaint about the tablet, Gorman wrote. Announced in 2020, the Magic Keyboard also features an adjustable keyboard and stand.

While Apple is expected to hold a launch event in the coming weeks that will likely focus on a new iPhone and watch, Gurman doesn’t expect the new iPads to be revealed until the spring or early summer of 2024.

Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
