Batteries from ‘e-bikes’ caused fire in Sunset Park

An investigation determines that lithium ion batteries for electric bicycles and skateboards were the cause of a large fire in Brooklyn.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday in an apartment building located on Seventh Avenue in Sunset Park.

More than 130 firefighters rushed to the scene to put out the flames.

During the incident, one person was injured and was treated at the scene.

The fire displaced more than a dozen residents and destroyed a Chinese restaurant.
