Basketball – Hamburg – openings: Tschentscher feels “different attitude towards life” – sport

Hamburg (dpa / lno) – In view of a corona seven-day incidence below the 20 mark, Hamburg is taking new steps. From Friday on, hotels, hostels and campsites can be 100 percent occupied again – previously only 60 percent were allowed. And up to ten people from different households can meet outdoors, as Mayor Peter Tschentscher (SPD) said on Tuesday after a meeting of the red-green Senate. He spoke of a “completely different attitude towards life” in the city. “That affects all generations.”

In the interior, however, the contact is initially restricted to a maximum of five people from different households. “Outside is significantly less risky than inside, hence the restriction to the outside area,” he said. Both inside and outside, children and the fully vaccinated do not count.

The permitted number of participants at events is to be increased to 100 people in rooms and up to 500 in the open air. In addition, prostitution should be allowed again under strict hygiene requirements. Saunas, steam baths and wellness facilities are also allowed to reopen with restrictions.

Organizers of city and harbor tours will also be able to fully use their capacities again from Friday. In addition, there is no evidence of a negative corona test in open double-decker buses or barges.

There are further relaxations in sport: Up to 30 adults can now do sport outdoors, and up to ten people indoors without contact. Choir and brass music rehearsals may also take place indoors with a minimum distance of two and a half meters and mandatory testing.

In cultural institutions, the audience may be placed using the so-called chessboard method. “That means that every second place can be used,” said Tschentscher.

It became known on Monday that the summer dome could take place. “We are preparing for a summer dome, of course with very special concepts,” he said. “But at least a folk festival on the Heiligengeistfeld.” The next step will be to decide whether to open the traditional fish market, said Social Senator Melanie Leonhard (SPD).

On the other hand, clubs, discos and other dance halls have to wait for an opening. Tschentscher did not give an opening perspective. “It is good that young people enjoy life in the fresh air.” Uninterrupted and exuberant celebrations in public places, such as recently in the Schanzenviertel, Winterhude or the city park, are still forbidden because they are too risky.

Therefore, locally applicable alcohol bans at the hotspots must also be upheld. “If there is excessive alcohol consumption in public places, if things get out of control, if bottles are thrown at police officers, then that is not okay. And then there will be rules that prevent that, and that throughout the city,” he said. “It doesn’t have much to do with Corona anymore.”

On Tuesday, the seven-day corona incidence in Hamburg fell significantly below the 20 mark for the first time since mid-September. According to the health authority, 53 newly detected infections were added. That was 27 more than on Monday, but 55 less than on Tuesday a week ago. The incidence, i.e. the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week, fell from 20.7 to 17.8.
