Bamus Betawi Criticizes Abu Janda’s Spread of Hoax Anies about ACT: Provocation!

Jakarta

Chairman of the Betawi Deliberative Body (Bamus), Riano P Ahmad strongly condemned the actions of Permadi Arya or Abu Janda | who uploaded Anies Baswedan’s video about ACT. Riano said the act of social media activists was outrageous and dangerous.

“This is clearly an evil slander against Anies to spread provocation. Because the hoax video was deliberately made and disseminated to the public. This must not be silenced,” said Riano in a written statement, Saturday (9/7/2022).

Therefore, Riano urges the police to immediately process the Abu Janda law, such as investigating hoax cases or other ITE Laws. Moreover, he said, Abu Janda had repeatedly made controversial statements that caused uproar.

“Don’t let the public get the impression that the police are acting with inconsistent and subjective standards. Because inconsistency in applying the law will damage the sense of justice and public trust in the rule of law itself,” he said.

“While there are many similar cases that are immediately processed by law. Meanwhile, this person (Abu Janda) did not receive any punishment,” he added.

Riano then linked the hoax video Abu Janda | with a similar case that befell the former Minister of Youth and Sports, Roy Suryo recently. Where, the police immediately moved quickly regarding the case of the Borobudur Temple stupa hoax meme which was edited like President Jokowi which was uploaded on Roy Suryo’s social media.

“So I think it’s natural for the public to think that there is a double standard in the Abu Janda case. The officers are considered inconsistent with several similar incidents that happened before, which were immediately prosecuted by the law,” he said.

Therefore, Bamus Betawi asked law enforcement officials to act more responsively in responding to the Abu Janda hoax video case.

“We strongly object. Anies is a leader of the citizens of Jakarta and should not be made into a toy. We Bamus Betawi ask for articles on spreading false news and the ITE Law to be used equally for everyone,” he concluded.

Riano also revealed Abu Janda’s police plan for the case of spreading hoaxes against Anies Baswedan. Currently, Riano and Bamus Betawi’s legal team are reviewing the case.

“Yes (there is a plan to report). We have asked the legal team or LBH Bamus Betawi to study and review the hoax case as a basis for reporting it to the authorities,” he stressed.

As is known, social media activists Permadi Arya or Abu Janda uploaded a video of Anies Baswedan’s speech which was edited so that it seemed as if the Governor of the Capital City was talking that ACT’s work was only for profit.
