Ajax fans already dream aloud about a return of Luis Suárez, but for now it seems to remain dreams. The Uruguayan has responded to a possible departure from FC Barcelona in the Spanish newspaper El Pais. “I can still be of great value to this club”, is Suárez’s message.
Suárez’s contract will run until the summer of 2021 and that usually means two options in the football world: sign up or leave, so that the club can still earn something in the form of a transfer fee.
The second option seems most likely, as FC Barcelona wants to start a big cleaning under the leadership of the new trainer Ronald Koeman. With the exception of Lionel Messi, there would no longer be room for the ‘vedettes of age’.
‘Not yet spoken to Koeman’
33-year-old Suárez thinks his own. “Nobody has told me that the club wants to get rid of me. If that is really Barcelona’s wish, they better communicate it directly to me.”
“I have the intention to stay”, the attacker emphasizes. “I haven’t spoken to Koeman yet. But I wouldn’t mind if the new trainer would rather let me start from the couch. I agree with my role and accept that.”
The Catalan sports newspaper El Mundo Deportivo message Sunday about a trade deal that would be in the making between Ajax and FC Barcelona. Donny van de Beek would then leave for Barcelona and Ajax will receive Luis Suárez plus twenty million euros in return.
