AZP management: 'Not all of these abuses are at issue'

The management of the Academic Hospital Paramaribo (AZP) reacted on Friday evening to the press release from the medical staff, in which the alarm bell is sounded and it was stated that under the current circumstances human lives will soon be lost in Suriname.

“The abuses presented in the communiqué are not all currently under discussion and many of them have already been resolved. We therefore regret the way in which the situation has been outlined by the medical staff. The AZP knows its responsibility and will do everything in its power to serve the sick person ”, the management of the Surinamese hospital said in a press release. The direct says further:

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the difficult importation of all necessary consumables, the pressure on scarce stocks has further increased. It has become sufficiently known in society that hospitals have had to contend with various shortages of medical consumables and medicines for years now.

In these situations, care is provided to the best of our knowledge and ability using the available resources. It is the responsibility of different actors to make the health sector completely healthy. The management has therefore shared concerns with and from the medical staff during regular staff meetings.

The AZP laboratory is currently able to perform all tests normally. This information is available from Wednesday 20 May. known to the medical staff. The situation surrounding ransomware that prevents us from using our network is under control. The ICT department and external expertise are working hard to make the network accessible again to the departments. This is done in phases as the approximately 700 workstations cannot be connected to the network at the same time.

According to the management, she is busy continuing the transformation process and taking steps to continue improving healthcare.
