The president of the Community of Madrid has finally decided to “continue evaluating” in the next few hours if she requests the Ministry of Health to go to Phase 3 next Monday and not to remain in Phase 2 for the two weeks of rigor. After a meeting held this afternoon with his Minister of Health, Enrique Ruiz Escudero, the decision has been postponed, according to sources from the Community of Madrid.

However, shortly afterwards, the Minister of Health assured that the regional government contemplated requesting the change to Phase 3 as early as next Monday, and not wait the two weeks that the Ministry has been arguing to grant the change.
As indicated in an interview in ‘Antena 3’ collected by Europa Press, “after analyzing the data from the last week and in view of the good behavior they are having”, you can consider requesting progress towards phase 3 within a week , which contradicted the criterion of prudence that had just been stated by its president.
Specifically, Escudero pointed out that the “very maintained” and “firm” behavior of the number of patients who are in the ICU and hospitalized encouraged him to consider asking for this change. “All that comes from our emergencies are few cases and of lightness,” adding that it is also “important” that “the detection of new cases and the follow-up of contacts is being done with great solvency.”
The decision to request the change to Phase 3 next Monday had to be made between this same Monday and Tuesday, so it was decided to hold the meeting between the regional president and the Ministry of Health to finally decide if the request was made. Escudero, yes, appealed to “the responsibility of the people of Madrid” whatever the phase in which the region was maintained: “Protection with the mask, keeping distance and hygienic sanitary measures.”
