Aya Nakamura continues its international hold. Since the release of her song “Djadja”, the Franco-Malian singer has made the whole world dance with her hits “Copines” or “Pookie”, which have become hits outside the French-speaking borders. If the first is currently a hit in Asia thanks to a challenge on TikTok, the second has reached the heights in Italy following a remix made with rapper Capo Plaza. But it is above all “Djadja” which allowed Aya Nakamura to establish her world reputation. Number one in Belgium, France, the Netherlands or Romania, gold record in Germany, Austria, Canada or Switzerland, platinum in Switzerland or Italy, the title has enjoyed worldwide resonance, a rare thing for a French song.

The world is “tit-pe” for Aya Nakamura

With 740 million views on YouTube and 300 million streams on Spotify, “Djadja” has even become a hit in Latin America, following a new version recorded with Maluma, which has more than 235 million listens on Spotify. And it is now with our British neighbors that Aya Nakamura is a hit. Indeed, his hit “Djadja” has just been certified silver single in the United Kingdom, for more than 200,000 units sold, by the BPI (British Phonographic Industry). A real victory for the singer but also a surprise, given that the title has never been classified in the British charts. It is even the second French-speaking title to be certified in the United Kingdom, after “Alors on danse” by Stromae, although some French artists like Christine and the Queens or David Guetta managed the feat but with titles sung in English (“Tilted”, “When Love Takes Over”).

Aya Nakamura in a video interview for Pure Charts:

So, will Aya Nakamura soon become a star for the English? It could well be that she succeeds because, in addition to this silver certification, the singer sees her title “Never again”, in duet with the British flagship rapper Stormzy, currently reaching the tenth place of the Afrobeat charts in the United Kingdom. Slowly but surely, the artist continues to establish himself around the world!
