If we wonder how the X-Men would have faced Thanos instead of the Avengers, this is not the only question that we still ask ourselves about Avengers: Endgame. A few days before his birthday, the Russo brothers’ film has not yet revealed all its secrets. And although in 3 hours, we had time to see multiple intrigues, the writers forgot to solve one concerning Iron Man and Bucky. As you know, Tony Stark left us in Endgame, and we still don’t know if he had forgiven James Barnes before his death. As a reminder, the Winter Soldier killed his parents, Howard and Maria Stark, after the latter was brainwashed. What is even more dramatic in this story is that Steve Rogers knew about it but decided to keep it secret. The friendship between the trio has therefore necessarily taken a hit.
Tony Stark and Steve Rogers were entitled to their reconciliation: they preferred to leave the past behind in order to focus on their common mission. Bucky, the most at fault in history, was not so lucky. Iron Man left without first forgiving him. Why Avengers: Endgame did not integrate this plot during the scenario? If of course Tony Stark could see his father again, that is not enough. A simple interaction between the two protagonists would have done the trick. Iron Man could for example have lent a hand to Bucky, just to show him that he no longer had any grudges towards him. Of course, we can hope to see the Winter Soldier redeem during the series planned on Disney +.
