Daniel Kehlmann and his translator Ross Benjamin made it onto the shortlist for the International Booker Prize with the English edition of the novel “Tyll”. The prize, which is worth almost 60,000 euros and will be shared between the author and translator, will be awarded on May 19.
In addition to Kehlmann, books by Shokoofeh Azar (Iran), Gabriela Cabezon Camara (Argentina), Fernanda Melchor (Mexico), Yoko Ogawa (Japan) and Marieke Lucas Rijneveld (Netherlands) can be found on the six-title nomination list. The jump from the long list to the short list did not include the Norwegian Jon Fosse, the German-Georgian author Nino Haratikwili or the Frenchman Michel Houellebecq.
