Autopsy of pilot revealed in accident in which Kobe Bryant died

The helicopter pilot whose crash killed retired basketball player Kobe Bryant had not used drugs or alcohol, the autopsy determined.

Bryant, the pilot, and the seven other people aboard the aircraft died on January 26, when it collapsed outside of Los Angeles.

Autopsies were revealed Friday by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office. The cause of death for Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, pilot Ara Zobayan and the other occupants is identified as severe trauma.

Zobayan was flying amid thick fog. He had the aircraft climb to avoid cloud cover, but the helicopter ended up crashing into the side of a hill.

Federal authorities are still investigating the accident.
