“We need to tighten the screws again,” the chancellor said, noting that “arcade” compliance would be monitored through on-site inspections.
Vaccineers should not be required to go to another “arcade” because of the population who are skeptical or negative about the vaccination, the chancellor explained.
He did not reveal when a nationwide “archery” for unvaccinated people could begin.
A similar regime will already be in place in some regions early next week.
Since Monday, only vaccinated and sick people in Austria can visit restaurants, events and tourist attractions.
Since the beginning of November, proof of vaccination, illness or a negative test has been required regularly in the workplace.
With the introduction of these two requirements, the number of people receiving the first Covid-19 vaccine has risen sharply in recent days. However, the number of infections continues to rise.
Nearly 11,800 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in the past 24 hours, according to official estimates.
In total, 64% of the population in Austria have been fully vaccinated, which Schallenberg described as a “shamefully low” level.
