Austin Hill will start in the Cup in Michigan

Richard Childress Racing will enter Austin Hill, who will make his NASCAR Cup Series debut in Michigan. He will drive the No. 33 Chevrolet.

A NASCAR XFINITY Series driver for Richard Childress Racing this season, Austin Hill will make his NASCAR Cup Series debut this weekend at the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway.

As a kid growing up in the sport, having the chance to drive a car in the NASCAR Cup Series is the ultimate dream, especially with a team like Richard Childress Racing that has so much history and success. I am so grateful that Richard Childress and everyone at CPR have so much faith in me. It’s going to be a learning weekend for sure, but I’ve had success at Michigan International Speedway in the past and can’t wait to tackle the wide, fast corners in a Chevrolet in the NASCAR Cup Series.

28-year-old Austin Hill notably won at the Michigan International Speedway in the NASCAR Truck Series in 2019.

Austin has shown talent in every series he has ridden in during his career. So I couldn’t be happier to have him behind the wheel of a Cup car. He is having a solid season in XFINITY and I know he will be just as competitive and eager to learn behind the wheel of a Cup car.

Austin Hill will drive the #33 Chevrolet Camaro this weekend at Michigan International Speedway. United Renatals will be sponsoring this car.

United Rentals have been an Austin Hill supporter since 2017 and we can’t wait to see him take the next step in his career. We will support him in each of these steps.

In four full seasons in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Austin Hill has eight wins and a best ranking of fifth, which was in 2019. For his first full season in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, Austin Hill won twice, in season opener at Daytona, then last month at the second race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Jim Pohlman will serve as team manager for Austin Hill this weekend. He was Austin Hill’s team manager in one race this season, but also that of Sheldon Creed four times.
