Explaining that in the study, information such as demographic characteristics, family history, smoking, mild-medium-heavy alcohol habits, body mass index, polyp detection rates and location of the cases who underwent colonoscopy for colon cancer screening were evaluated, Erdem said, adding that 52 percent of the screened patients were evaluated. women, 48 percent were men, 23 percent were active smokers and 14 percent quit smoking.

Erdem stated that 53 percent of smokers have been consuming at least 1 pack of cigarettes a day for 20 years and continued as follows:

“The frequency of polyps was 31 percent and the frequency of colon cancer was 2.3 percent in cases who underwent colonoscopic screening. The frequency of polyps was 27 percent in women, and the frequency of colon cancer was 1. The frequency of polyps in men was 37 percent, and the frequency of colon cancer was 3.8 percent. The rates of detecting polyps in the colon were 14 percent in the 40-49 age group, 23 percent in the 50-59 age group, and 27 percent in the 60-69 age group. . precancerous adenomatous polyp is detected.
