At least 3668 civilians were killed and another 3896 wounded in the war in Ukraine

“The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights believes that the actual figures are much higher as information from some places of intense fighting has been delayed, but many statements are still awaiting confirmation,” the document said.

These include Mariupol, Izjum and Popasna, where there are many civilian casualties but have yet to be verified and are therefore not included in UN statistics.

“Most civilian deaths or injuries were caused by the use of explosives with a wide range of exposure, including firing with heavy artillery and jet fire systems, as well as rocket and air strikes,” the document said.

According to confirmed UN figures, 1,353 men, 897 women, 94 boys and 82 girls have died, but 1,173 adults and 69 children have not yet been sexed.

Among the 3,896 injured are 100 boys, 91 girls and another 167 children of unknown sex.

In the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the UN has recorded 1,890 dead and 1,528 wounded in the Ukrainian government-controlled area, as well as 124 dead and 489 wounded in the pro-Moscow separatist-controlled area.

In other government-controlled regions of Ukraine, the UN has recorded 1,654 deaths and 1,879 injuries.
