At least 19 people have been killed in a bus accident in Mexico. Several dozen passengers were injured.
The accident happened on a highway near Mexico City after the bus’s brakes had failed. The vehicle then crashed into a house.
Pilgrims on their way to Chalma, a holy place for Catholics in central Mexico, were on the bus. In the run-up to December 12, the feast day of the ‘Virgin of Guadalupe’, many Mexicans go on a pilgrimage.
Governor Del Mazo of the state where the accident happened speaks of “a very unfortunate accident”. Among other things, he has ordered the security and health services to support the affected families.
