Several storm centers are developing out in the Norwegian Sea on Sunday, and they are moving anything but slowly towards land, Hansen says.

Full to strong storm

When the storm center hits land on Sunday afternoon, storms can create problems throughout northern Norway. Among other things, it is expected that the wind will create traffic problems in several places.

– We expect a southwesterly storm from Stad and all the way north to northern Norway. Wind gusts of 35-40 meters per second can be strongest, the meteorologist says.

The wind that is on its way is described as full to strong storm, and it is expected to first hit Nordland on Sunday afternoon, and then spread up to Finnmark during Sunday evening. A snow warning has also been issued in the areas of Troms, Ofoten, Salten, Saltfjellet and Helgeland and from Tuesday afternoon. Between 20 and 40 centimeters of snow is then expected locally. In Finnmark, a danger warning has been issued for local snowdrifts from Monday morning, this is due to strong winds and snow.

Brings a dry wind

The coast of Møre og Romsdal and Trøndelag will also have strong winds and up to storms, but according to the meteorologist nothing beyond what is usual.

With it, the low pressure from the Norwegian Sea has a dry wind. So hot and dry air. This means that the storm produces mild temperatures.

– It will probably be around 7-8 degrees in northern Norway while it is going on, Hansen says.

The warm air in the storm also brings with it a lot of rain, sleet and the risk of flooding during the evening on Sunday and into Monday.

An orange warning has been sent out for a lot of rain in Nordland, especially in the far north, ie in Lofoten. In addition to orange warning due to strong winds.

The hot air blows away

Beyond Monday, the warm air will blow away and be replaced by colder, westerly winds.

– This causes snow showers in northern Norway, and there will also be strong winds all the way from the North Cape and south to Stad, says the meteorologist.

From Tuesday, the weather maps show that it will be calmer in northern Norway, and that the low pressures will disappear to the south. There will then be a cold air in the north, but the wind will decrease.

– There will then be snow showers and such as it should be in the winter, but the storm is over.
