The Duke of York, the son of Queen Elizabeth removed from the tight circle of real life, could soon be joined by a civil suit in the United States for “sexual assaults and physical and emotional harm”

LONDON – The strategy of not answering could cost you dearly Prince Andrew. See i lawyers of Elizabeth’s son have not so far granted to US investigators to contact the Duke of York about the circle of exploitation of minors, pedophilia and sexual abuse that revolved around the US billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, the prince could soon be joined in a civil lawsuit in the United States for “sexual assaults and physical and emotional harm” brought by the woman who claims to have been his victim, Virginia Giuffre. Giuffre – also known by her maiden name, Roberts – in December 2019 had told the Bbc the various meetings with the prince as well as the fact that, when still a minor, she had been “loaned” by Epstein, who committed suicide in prison, and by his partner Ghislaine Maxwell, still in prison in the US awaiting trial, of Andrea for sexual intercourse. Virginia was then 17. The woman recalls three episodes in particular, which took place between 2001 and 2002, between London, New York and the island of Little St James, Virgin Islands.

Andrea has always said he is innocent. He claims he never had any sexual contact with Giuffre e he hardly remembers the photograph which instead depicts them together at a party in Maxwell’s London home. Virginia was 17 at the time. In Great Britain the age of consent is 16, but in New York Virginia is protected as a minor up to 18. He now has until August 14 to take legal action against the prince. His lawyers claim to have written to Andrea several times to reach an agreement privately. Not having the prince agreed to negotiate, Giuffre may be forced to involve the court.

According to David Boies, Giuffre’s attorney, «Time’s up», time is running out. To the Mail on Sunday the lawyer stressed that if the prince continues to not cooperate he could be found guilty “in absentia” and be joined by a ruling for damages of several million pounds. Buckingham Palace has in the past defended the prince by arguing with a statement that the allegations are “false and unfounded”. Andrea, however, was removed from the tight circle of the royal family so much so as not to appear in the official photographs of the marriage of his daughter Beatrice in July of last year.

Sarah, Duchess of York, took the field alongside her ex-husband. Al Financial Times she said she was “100% convinced of her innocence.” “I have no doubts,” he specified. “I know everything about him, he’s an extraordinary person.” She and her ex are “the happiest divorced couple in the world,” she said. They live in the same house but each has their own rooms, «we support each other, we are a source of strength for each other». “I want – he added – that he overcome this moment, I want him to win”.
