Covid-19 Cases Increasing, PSBB in Tangerang City is Extended Again

TANGERANG, KOMPAS.com – Large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) in the City Tangerang, Banten, was again extended to the next 14 days or to be precise until 6 September 2020.

Guardian Tangerang City Arief Wismansyah said that the City of Tangerang together with two areas in Tangerang Raya agreed to extend the PSBB after seeing the increasing Covid-19 cases.

“There are many more cases in Tangerang, right? Earlier in Tangerang district and Tangsel we agreed to ask to be extended,” he said when contacted by Kompas.com by telephone, Monday (24 // 8/2020).

Arief said that apart from asking for the PSBB period to be extended, the Tangerang City Government also asked for additional equipment tracing in the form of a tool PCR and an extraction tool for examination by the PCR method.

This is because the PCR equipment at the Regional Health Laboratory (Labkesda) in Tangerang City is no longer adequate for tracing cases that are increasing.

“We also asked the province for assistance to add PCR equipment because in Tangerang City, Labkesda is open 7 days a week, 24 hours,” he said.

Arief also explained that there were 900 lines of swab samples that had not been checked to date.

He is worried that if the PCR examination is not carried out quickly, people who have positive samples but do not know the results will infect more people.

“Because if the queue lasts up to a week, it has gone everywhere. One person can infect 9 people,” said Arief.

Apart from asking for assistance from Banten Province, Arief will also collaborate with private hospitals in Tangerang City that have PCR devices.

“It simply came to our notice then line up 900, we ask for private assistance, right? There are hospitals that have equipment too, so that the queues will be faster, “he said.

The positive cases of Covid-19 in Tangerang City have currently reached 789 cases. Of the 789 cases, 44 patients died, 558 patients recovered and 187 patients were still in treatment.
