“Asseto Corsa Competizione”, the simulation for consoles that does not pretend

On the PS4, when we talk about racing simulation, we obviously think of Gran Turismo Sport, its hundreds of cars, its dozens of circuits and its some seven million players. However, to approach the “real” simracing, ideally you need a very expensive competition PC to run iRacing, of RFactor and… Asseto Corsa Competizione (ACC). Nothing to see with Asseto Corsa Ultimate Edition released in 2016 on PS4: Competition focuses on GT3 (pending GT4 this fall) with fifteen really different cars and just eleven circuits, those of the Blancpains, with notably Spa, Zolder and Zandvoort old version. Four other tracks will arrive with a paid extension, including Suzuka and Bathurst.

Compared to GT Sport, nothing to see either: no question of embarking on ACC with a joystick or even a low-end steering wheel because, during the race, you will need knobs and / or a max of buttons to adjust the traction control, ABS, engine mapping, braking distribution and even tire pressures during a pit stop. We understand why there are so many Fanatec panels around the circuits! Another asset ofACC, integration of weather and weather
: during the race, the sun turns or even sets, the shadows of the trees appear, move and lengthen, the track dries up revealing the trajectory … It’s superb, in addition to the particularly successful soundscape.

More elitist

Piloting also requires great rigor and precision. No question of climbing the vibrators as in GT Sport under penalty of taking off and damaging the car. Discipline required also compared to opponents, even in single player mode because of the “cleanliness” of the track behavior will depend on your level of reputation, which gives access to multiplayer games. ACC being more elitist than GT Sport, the starting grids are less provided but the opposition very marked, with adversaries classified among the very best of GT Sport.

Spend time developing

On races or in timed events (on a lap or on a complete relay), you have to hang on! All the more reason to immerse yourself in the forest of settings and devote time to the development: suspension, engine, aerodynamics … Everything is there, but a virtual track engineer as in Project Cars 2 would have been very helpful in roughing the job. If multiplayer turns out to be less addictive than GT Sport, ACC offers a career mode much more convincing because really difficult. In short, the two complement each other ideally!

On PS4 and XBOXOne, PEGI 3, around € 40.
