Kasargod: A middle-aged man died after being beaten by auto drivers for allegedly trying to molest a young woman who was being treated at a private hospital. The deceased has been identified as Rafeeq, 49, of Chaliyangode, Chemmanad.
The girl had come to see the baby doctor. He turned his shotgun on himself when apprehended by a police officer on the porch of the house where the shootings took place. According to locals, he ran to the new bus stand area.
But police said they could not say whether the torture was the cause of death. The body will be shifted to Pariyaram Medical College from Kasargod General Hospital. The police are recording the statement of the woman.
