Assange suffers stroke during trial in London – media

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange suffered a stroke while speaking via video link at the London High Court. About this on Sunday, December 12, reported the Daily Mail newspaper, citing the inmate’s fiancée Stella Morris.

According to the woman, the incident took place on November 27 in London’s Belmarsh maximum security prison. The cause of the stroke, Morris says, was stress and poor health.

As a result of the attack, Assange has a drooping right eyelid, memory problems and signs of neurological damage. He underwent an MRI of the brain and prescribed treatment.

Recall, December 10 High Court of London upheld the appeal of the U.S. Department of Justice in the case of Assange’s extradition to the States. Now the British Home Secretary must decide whether the prisoner will be extradited.

Reportedly Washington indicted Assange on 18 countsincluding in violation of the law on espionage and conspiracy to hack into a government computer. He faces 175 years in prison.

Julian Assange is currently in a London prison, where he was taken after he was extradited to the authorities by the Ecuadorian embassy. He has been hiding there since 2012.
