An eyewitness tells the Danish media that the ring had a movement like an insect swarm. The reason was that there was a perfect circular ring in the sky.
– At first it was very round, but then it became more elongated and then disintegrated, Marianne Lindahl tells Danish TV 2.
This explanation also fits well with the fact that it was calm wind conditions in Copenhagen on Saturday night.

Although there were several different theories about what it could be, it would turn out that there was a completely different explanation for the origin of the mysterious ring. The explanation must be found in the world of art.

– We have built some large gas cannons that we fire for different occasions. It actually works like a huge burner, which consists of bottled gas that we turn on. When it is completely windless as it was that day, it leads to the fireball leaving an absolutely perfect smoke ring that hangs in the air for a long time, says Christian Liljedahl to Dagbladet.
“Unexplained objects” make the pilots scratch their heads
He is part of the artist group Illutron, which owns the gas cannon. He himself thought it was a little funny that the black ring in the sky got so much attention in the country.
– I did not mean. We did not try to make this smoke ring, but it just hung in the air for a long time and therefore many people spotted the ring in the sky, he says.
He also says that they use it for various events, and this time the cannon was used on the occasion of a closing party for the boat and music festival Copenhagen Habour Parade.
