According to Indonesian Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, there are three pillars to form ACPHEED: surveillance, detection and response, and risk management.

This pillar will be supported by three ASEAN countries: Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia. The ACPHEED pillar offices will be built in the three countries. ACPHEED will operate similarly to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

ACPHEED is a solution to overcome differences in health protocols between ASEAN countries.

To create uniformity, ASEAN countries can apply rules similar to Indonesia’s policy of limiting public activities, said Budi Gunadi Sadikin.
